  3. The chemical formula for vinegar is shown by its main component, acetic acid. The structural formula for acetic acid is CH3COOH or 
  4. The systematic chemical name for acetic acid is ethanoic acid. The 'eth' prefix means there are 2 carbon atoms and the 'anoic' suffix means that it contains an organic acid or 'carboxyl' group. ie. - COOH
  5. Vinegar or acetic acid is a weak acid and only partially dissociates or ionizes in water.
